Custom Rebounders for School and College Programs

Several Elite XL and Premier XL Multi Sport Ball Rebounders lined up on a college practice field

Most school programs are well served by a standard ball rebounder, and a custom build makes sense when a program's space, number of stations or way of training doesn't fit the standard lineup. All Ball Pro has made custom builds for college programs including Georgetown, Virginia Tech, UNC, USC, Michigan and RPI. Picture a college equipment manager planning a new indoor facility: the standard Elite XL covers most of the team's needs, but one wall has columns that standard sizes may not fit between. That's when to ask about a custom build.

When is a standard ball rebounder enough for a program?

A standard model is enough when the program's needs fall inside the lineup's range of sizes and uses. All Ball Pro makes steel-frame, multi-sport ball rebounders, also called rebound nets, in St. Louis, Missouri, in sizes from the Stinger X's 3.5' x 3.5' net to the Elite XL's 7' x 9'. Every unit has a galvanized, powder-coated steel frame and a UV-protected net, and the four full-size models roll on 10" spoked wheels. For choosing among them, see our guide to choosing a rebounder for a school, club or training facility.

Model Net frame Net area Weight Typical program use
The Stinger X Multi Sport Ball Rebounder 3.5' x 3.5' 12.25 sq ft 76 lbs Youth programs, tight indoor stations
The Varsity Multi Sport Ball Rebounder 5' x 5' 25 sq ft 102 lbs High school stations, one player per net
The Premier XL (PXL) Multi Sport Ball Rebounder 5' x 7' 35 sq ft 133 lbs Two-player stations, keepers and goalies
The Elite XL (EXL) Multi Sport Ball Rebounder 7' x 9' 63 sq ft 163 lbs College and high-volume team use

When does a program need a custom ball rebounder?

A program needs a custom build when standard sizes or setups don't fit how or where it trains. Common reasons to ask:

  • The space is unusual. Columns, low ceilings or fixed walls leave room for units that aren't a standard size.
  • The station count is high. A facility planning many stations may want them matched to its floor plan.
  • The program has a specific drill setup. A coach's drills need a net size or height the lineup doesn't offer.
  • The program wants a consistent look across a facility. [Custom options: confirm with ABP — e.g., colors or branding.]

If none of these apply, a standard Elite XL or Premier XL is usually the faster path.

What should a program ask before requesting a custom build?

Go into the conversation with your space and use written down, so the quote matches what you need:

  • Floor and ceiling measurements for each station, including the lowest point.
  • Sports and drills each unit will serve, and how many players use it at once.
  • Indoor, outdoor or both, and whether units need to move between spaces.
  • Number of units and when the program needs them.
  • What can be customized. [Custom options: confirm with ABP — sizes, frames, colors, logos and lead times.]

For budget and approval questions at the school level, see our guide for schools and youth athletic programs.

How much range does the standard lineup already cover?

The standard lineup covers a fivefold range of net area, from 12.25 to 63 sq ft. The math: Stinger X 3.5' x 3.5' = 12.25 sq ft; Elite XL 7' x 9' = 63 sq ft; 63 ÷ 12.25 = 5.1. Between those, the Varsity (25 sq ft) and Premier XL (35 sq ft) fill the middle. A program whose needs fall inside that range can usually mix standard models; one that needs something outside it, or shaped differently, is a custom conversation.
